CNC Machinist/Programmer for Vertical Machining Centers

Well-established contract manufacturer needs a proficient, production-oriented CNC machinist to run busy milling department. Machines include Haas VMCs, Brothers VMCs and Bridgeport/Okuma VMC.  The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Job Purpose:
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Duties:
* Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

* Plans tooling inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed tools; placing and expediting orders for tools and materials; verifying receipt of tools.

* Programs mills  by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

* Sets-up mills by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, probes and indexing attachments; indicating vices; tramming heads.

* Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
* Job scheduling and following up on contract orders throughout production process.

*Enforcing company work rules and safety policies.

* Scheduling and/or performing machine maintenance, when required.

* Employee hiring and termination recommendations or action with management approval

* Supervise operators’ production and quality.

* Programming of complex parts, as well as reviewing others’ programs to make process improvements.

* Strong knowledge of tool selection.

* Directing others to perform machine set up and operations.

* Demonstrated knowledge of programming in G codes, Mastercam and/or GibbsCam;, ability to interpret solid models, and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Candidate should have experience in a job shop environment.

CNC Machinist – Lathes

Job Purpose:
Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Duties:
* Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

* Plans tooling inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed materials and tooling; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock.

* Programs lathes by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

* Sets-up  lathes and bar feeders by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers.

* Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.

* Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.

* Job scheduling and following up on contract orders throughout production process.

* Enforcing company work rules and safety policies.

* Scheduling and/or performing machine maintenance, when required.

* Employee hiring and termination recommendations or action with management approval

* Supervise operators’ production and quality.

* Programming of complex parts, as well as reviewing others’ programs to make process improvements.

* Strong knowledge of tool selection.

* Directing others to perform machine set up and operations.

* Required to set up and/or operate machines as needed.

* Responsible for quality and on time production.

* Demonstrated knowledge of programming in G codes, Mastercam and/or GibbsCam;, ability to interpret solid models, and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite. Familiarity with Fanuc controls required; also prefer familiarity with Okuma controls. Candidate should have experience in a job shop environment.
